Prof. Dr. Abid Thyab Al Ajeeli, Strategic Consultant

Prof. Dr. Abid Thyab Al Ajeeli has headed the Arab Council for Strategy, Economics, and Development Studies since 2020. His professional career of over 40 years combines political leadership responsibility with scientific expertise.

Politics and consulting: As Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (2006-2010), he played a key role in shaping the educational landscape of his region. Subsequently, he was a Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Higher Education Committee as well as an advisor in the Iraqi President’s Office. Today, he is a member of the Arab Collaboration Council for Investment and Chairman of the Arab Council for Strategy, Economics and Development Studies.

Education and research: After studying Petroleum Engineering in London and Operational Research in Southampton, he gained his doctorate in Computer Science at Keele University. He has taught as a professor at universities in Jordan, Qatar and Bahrain. He has published over 65 scientific articles and 18 books, including the “Handbook of Research on E-Services in the Public Sector”. His research focuses on e-government strategies, simulation and modelling as well as high-performance networks.

Combining expertise in both areas, he has been committed to the transfer of knowledge between cultures and the promotion of international co-operation in education and research for decades.
